General Conditions for Eisteddfod

 

Entries:

1.
Entries close Wednesday 2nd April 2008. All Entries must be accompanied by the appropriate fees, not stamps.
2.
The age on the 1st January 2008 shall be deemed the age of the competitor.
3.
All competitors must send their names and addresses to the Program Co- Ordinator when entering and no person will be allowed to compete under any other name.
4.
In all duets and trios the name of each competitor must be given at the time of entry; alterations after entry may only be made at the discretion of the Committee.
5.
Competitors will be notified of the date and session of their performance IF A STAMPED SELF-ADDRESSED ENVELOPE is enclosed with their entry.
6.
Any item (by a competitor or group) is not to be performed again in another section.

 

Adjudicators:

Communication with the Adjudicator either by competitors, teachers or interested parties during the competitions is absolutely prohibited.
8.
The committee reserves the right to alter the Adjudicator in any section.

 

Obligations of Competitors:

Competitors must report to the Secretary’s Desk prior to the start of each session.
10.
Tuning for instrumental group sections shall be allowed on stage, with curtains closed, for a maximum of 2 minutes for groups under 15 competitors, and a maximum of 5 minutes for groups comprising 15 or more competitors.
11.
Dance Sections: No rehearsal or practice is permitted on the stage to be used for the competition within two weeks prior to competing. Any entrant or entrants not observing this condition will be automatically disqualified.
12.
A copy of each selection, preferably a full score not set parts, must be handed to the Music Secretary for the Adjudicator before the commencement of sessions for piano, instrumental, vocal, choral and electone.
13. All bars of music must be numbered for the Adjudicator.

Copyright: Competitors must use original music or have permission from the relevant owners of copyright to make and use any copies of music in the Eisteddfod. If competitors use photocopied works or copies of sound recording they must warrant they have secured permission from the relevant owners of copyright to make the photocopy or copy. The photocopy will be destroyed by the Eisteddfod Committee after use.

Recorded music may not be used for accompaniment for any section in the general Eisteddfod except Modern Vocal.

 

General Advice:

NOVICE: A competitor who has never won a First, Second or Third prize in relevant sections at any age level in any Eisteddfod as of the 2nd April 2008.

The use of tape recorders, mobile phones, cameras or video cameras by members of the audience during the competitions is prohibited. Offenders may be removed from the auditorium. The committee reserves the right to record, photograph, broadcast and/or telecast any part of the competitions.
18.
Protests must be made in writing and presented at the Secretary’s Desk within 20 minutes of the disputed competition, and must be accompanied by a deposit of $25 which will be forfeited if the protest is not upheld.
19.
OFFICIAL ACCOMPANIST is available, a fee will apply.

 

Prizes:

Competitors who do not adhere to the conditions set out in the schedule for their section will not be eligible to receive prize money and/or trophies in that section.
21.
TIME LIMITS will be adhered to. Performance time is taken from the start of correct music. Competitors exceeding time limits for their sections may be penalised.

 

Safety & Stage Rules:

STAGE EFFECT– No lighted candles, sparklers or any lighted flame is permitted nor any flammable props such as hay bales.
23.
LIGHTING – The standard lighting rig at the PAC is used for all general and dance sections excluding Dance Troupe Sections. Dance Troupe entrants will be forwarded conditions and a cue sheet to be completed prior to their troupe performance.
24.
CURTAINS – Curtains may be used for troupes, demi-character or character solo dance items only.
25. SOUND - A tape player and CD player with operator will be provided. Tapes must be named, cued, marked on correct side, and handed to the operator before the performance. It is recommended that there be at least 30 seconds of blank tape at the end of each item recorded. (Sticky tape can be applied afterwards to enable over-recording.)

 

Risk:

Competitors acknowledge that they compete at their own risk.

 

Rights of Committee:

The Committee reserves the right to cancel or otherwise amend sections if insufficient entries are received.
28.

The decision of the Committee in all questions and disputes arising out of or not provided for by these conditions shall be final. All entries are received subject to this proviso and shall not be subject to any appeal at Law.

29.
The copying by any means of any Hamilton Eisteddfod Inc. publication is not permitted without the written permission of the Committee.
